Picture 1 shows the pistol grip and the compartment door. Pistol grip has holes pre-drilled for the spring to go in as shown in arrow 1. The [ part of the spring correspond to a indent part inside the grip to secure the door as shown in arrow 2.
After assemble the door and grip, to open the door, just push the straight line of the spring to edge and the [ part will disengage.
Commentary: There are a lot of irregular shapes and cuts looking at the edge of the door. That leaves me an impression that the person(s) is/are doing it don't care about the job that much. Workers should pay more attention to details even though it is a military weapon and cosmetic may not be that important.
