I have a standard 18" upper.
Which rear sight would you recommend? Would I need to modify the front post?

You mean the 16in upper, the muzzle device legally does not matter unless it's pinned and welded in place.
Any standard-height AR-15 rear sight will work, you will just have to dial-up the front sight post quite high. If you want to use T91 rear sights, you will have to switch out the post for either a T91 post or any standard-height AR-15 post.

If you're planning to use a standard-height AR-15 rear sight (A2 carry handle, MBUS, etc) you will need the tall post that comes with the upper.
If you're planning to use T91 rear sights you will need either a T91 post or a standard-height AR-15 front post.
If you're planning to use T91 rear sights you will need either a T91 post or a standard-height AR-15 front post.
