T91 Handguard Question

Hi All,

New to this forum, so my apologies if this is in the wrong spot. I recently acquired a Wolf A1 upper and noticed that there was a hole in the bottom handguard (towards the gasblock). To my understanding, the A1 utilizes the same handguards as the T91. Does anyone know what this is for? It's a bit too large to be a qd mount. I have heard speculation ranging from bipod mount to vent hole. Image attached:

My guess is drainage.

Seems likely to me. The location just seems "off." I'll continue to dig and see what we come up with.
