Went to zero the upper today. Colt m4 lower.

2 small? issues.

1) Magpul gen 2 plastic buis had to be shifted all the way to the left for windage. Canted fsb Like a cheap as?

2) the front sight post has to be unscrewed very far for elevation to be correct. The fsp is a bit loose but not in danger of falling out.

I thought I found others with similar experiences online but cannot find them again.

25, 50, or 100 yards? That does not making any sense, some photos would help.
Have you try out any other type of rear sight see if the result duplicates?

Added pic of the rear sight.

I zeroed starting at 10 yd then out to 50. I can barely see that far on irons. 10 yd was good. 50 yd wasn't great maybe because of shooter error.

https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/Wolf_ ... 18-712024/

Looks like this guy had to unscrew the front sight post until it was loose.

I found the mention of rear sight all the way to the left.

https://forum.t91tactical.com/phpbb/phpbb/ ... p?f=8&t=13

"One thing that im concerned about is the rear sight is completely to the left, don't know if its the upper, barrel, or the cheap UTG rear sight."

Guy comes back and says the problem was the sight.

https://www.ar15.com/forums/AR-15/-ARCH ... 47/?page=2

"Looks like it was the crappy UTG rear sight that wasn't centered. The GG&G MAD sight I'm using now sighted in without it being way left."

Damnit

I used magpul buis on another AR and it sighted fine.

Lemme guess, this UTG sight. Over the last couple of months I've seen quite a few AR folks having problems with them, always having to almost max out windage to the left to get a zero. Probably the best deal on a good folding rear sight is the MaTech, you can find it on Amazon for around $80 shipped.

Hi e292. So your zeroed rear sight also needed to be shifted to the left?

Looking at my rear sight pic, it was not shifted completely left, maybe 50 percent between middle and completely left.

Arkane, I'm using a Magpul gen 2 plastic buis. Work fine on my other AR.

I'll think about buying another rear sight to check but not sure if I want to spend the money. Currently researching how to test for fsb cant. However I have a feeling manufacturer will say if it zeros, it is within spec. Thanks guys

I gotta say the ears on the front sight make it tricky to shoot because the fsp is so high. I have guns with HK sights where you line up the front ears (circle) within the rear circle to aim. Doing so with this sight is impossible because fsp isn't centered.

Update.

Zeroed my sirt ar laser bolt using my good AR on a 10 yd target.

http://jerkingthetrigger.com/2015/02/13 ... -10-yards/

Put the sirt bolt into the wolf upper with the rear sight to the left. Result is that it is right on target. So the wolf upper should be zeroed (with rear sight to the left).

I'm gonna call wolf. If they blow me off might try this (although not sure where to get the usgi cleaning rod)

In a recent Colt Armorers class, we were told a good way to check for cant. Take out the front sight post and screw in a .mil cleaning rod. It has the same threads. It makes a front post look 8 inches long. Easy to tell if its canted

Update.

My cleaning rod at home threads into the fsp hole.

Measured against a plumb line and level, the front sight is definitely canted.

I'm disappointed. Taiwan makes good stuff. Maybe it's wolf messing stuff up (def wolf messing up the front sight post) For $500, it shouldn't be canted. I always buy quality (Colt, arsenal saiga aks, fn scars) so I've never had to deal with this.

I'm going to buy a tall front sight post. Wolfs solution to make the drum wider is really stupid. Sight tools don't work and it's still wobbly. 45 clicks from zero the completely unscrew the fsp

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm going to shoot it a bit and see if there is evidence of carrier tilt.

Maybe it's me but from looking at that pic it looks like the front sight post was drilled at an angle versus the gas block being canted. I'm looking at at the space between the ears of the gas block and the rod.

Wolf needs to know about this so they can tighten up their QA/QC.
