Are they blanks from Taiwan? What kind of blanks? The spec page for the uppers says the barrels are CHF and nitrided. Is that done in the US? Pretty sure you can't import a barrel that's been CHF'd even if the outer profile isn't finished and the extension not installed. Plus the mandrel for a nitride barrel would be different than for a chrome lined so they wouldn't be able to use the mil spec mandrels in Taiwan anyway.

Well I just called Steve at Wolf and he gave me some good info.
The barrels are cold hammer forged in Taiwan which means they are rifled and chambered but no more operations are done so they can be imported legally into the US as 'blanks'. Then in the US they are cut down to size from something like 20", profiled, nitrided and the extension added on.
Also the new 12.5" and 14.5" models have thinner/lighter barrel profiles than the original 16". According to Steve, future production 16" models will not be getting this lighter profile so if you want that profile you have to get a 12.5" or 14.5" model.

Did you ask Steve about tight chambers?

Nope. Didn’t know that was a thing.
